ReplyDeleteThrough this training I come to aware that there are large number of students currently in elementary level- estimated to be over five crore have not achieved foundational literacy and numeracy because they are the first learner and do not have an environment of literacy and numeracy at home.
ReplyDeleteAs a Teacher of elementary level I strongly agree that positive experiences received by a child at the foundational stage , supports the child's life long learning and development. So during this crucial time there is a need of immediate reforms in education and I hope FLN mission will help to decrease these learning gap of the students.
ECCE can bring lots of changes in our education system. Along with the financial assistance to Educational Istitute, teacher's skill must be improved and wel balanced stuydent teacher ratio should be maintained

Launching the Foundational literacy and numeracy program FLN is tremendous step for making a strong foundation for the early age children. in the early age, childrens cognitive development rapidly takes place but the matter of concern that they are not getting such environment at their home that causes poor learning level of children. FLN targeted to enable children they can read and respond with comprehension , independently write with understanding, develop number senses etc.

ECCE is the foundation for healthy and holistic development of a children. It aims in the physical and motor development, cognitive development and overall development of children.It helps children to learn new things by their own through play way, learning by doing, through activites etc.

Hence we as a teacher will get to know him better and can act appropriately and help the children to fullfill his/hers needs. Also ECCE will help the childrens to express their feelings and thoughts without any fear and hence the transition of them from pre-school to formal primary school will be smooth and seamless. Therefore it's a win-win situation for both the children and teachers.

ReplyDeleteThe FLN mission is a great way to achieve the goals of NEP 2020. This will definitely benifit children to develop skills in learning in their early growth and development years of age and also it will encourage the future students emerging out of those children. ECCE has a vital role in this process as it will act as the grass root level of implementation of the idea of FLN mission involving all stakeholders i.e. teachers, parents, local people and administration to provide a encouraging environment both inside and outside the classroom so that children get a stimulating development progress with their health. Their has been learning gaps in the past as well as needless to say the affect of post COVID-19 pandemic situation, many such children have left schooling due to various reasons or face a potentially greater risk of learning gap which will increase as time progresses. For these situations and for developing a better skilled and innovative human resource of our country it is mandatory to implement such a mission and its applicabilities such as ECCE to ensure each and every child gets to learn and grow into a skilled learner, writer and achieve numeracy till he/she reaches the level of primary education system from class 3.

ReplyDeleteI think it will be beneficial but without man power on the ground it will be helpless. We see one teacher for on subject in higher classes but in most the school in Assam one or two teachers manage the whole school in l.p.s including prelrimary students. So formulating such big initiative shall have to be matched with the ground reality. I am positive about it.
FLN (Foundational Literacy & Numeracy) gap is one of the biggest problem in early learning or preparatory level. According to National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP2020), there are more then five crore children have FLN gap in India. And thereby to obtain quality education is becoming a huge challenge among these students. It is also says that acquiring FNL among the students up to Class III is crucial and which is called the inflection point after which children need to read to be able to learn; an antithesis where children, who haven't made it, get left behind. Therefor to acquire FLN, the NEP2020 focuses on ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education). Through the ECCE, preschool education will be an integral part of our education system. It will develop children into better readers and writers in future along with development of intellect, ability, physical growth, mental maturity, and values. Hence the role of teachers will become to giving more attention to holistic development and learning of children and teach children ‘how to learn’ without any inequality through a open, delightful and play-way learning environment.

Again I would reteriate that along with the ECCE the role of teachers who are the practically engaging group with students will have to be supported,encouraged and enforced with required man power. Otherwise all formulas designed to upgrade the FLN of children will fall flare due to lake of environment to implement all very means derived from ECCE. IT MAY REQUIRE A LONG PERIOD BUT .it has to be a part of our schooling practice in order to help child learn the skill of survival for future world.

Our students will be able to read, write and count and physical, cognitive development of the childs will occur. For that the teacher and student ratio should also be maintained. The objective of ECCE coincides with the objective of FLN, but ECCE is a broad subject in relation to FLN. FLN focused on reading, writing and numeracy, but ECCE focuses on the holistic development of the child leading to physical, cognitive, emotional and social well being of the child.
The role of FLN Mission is to ensure that every child achieve the desired learning through various ways such as plays, arts, toys, colours, pictures, shapes etc. at school. Every child is talented in their own way and we must let the child learn in his or her own way. The Anganwadi workers are currently engaged for the pre-school child. ReplyDeleteAccording to research done by higher education officials it is found that ensuring the presence of students in a school does not necessarily means that the students are learning preciously. Studies shows that once students fall behind on FLN, they tend to maintain flat learning curves for years, and are perpetually unable to catch up. This is because until Class III, the curriculum focuses on learning to read or getting children to read and acquire basic skills. After Class III, children are expected to be able to read to learn. The learning gap continues to widen from that point, as the texts in the language textbooks and mathematical concepts become more complex and abstract in later primary grades. Thus, Class III is the inflection point after which children need to read to be able to learn; an antithesis where children, who haven't made it, get left behind. The damage is even greater for children who are forced to study in a language that they do not speak or understand. As such there is a strong national concern today regarding the poor learning levels of children at various stages of school education. This basic learnings can be done through FLN and all the student may obtain quality education. For the FLN to be successful the value of ECCE plays a vital role as for the child's early education, any child are found to be more interested in learning through a non-bookish way, meaning they tend to learn better though play-fun way which also encourages the child to develop its very needful social, physical, cognitive, and emotional values. As all of which can be seen possible through ECCE.

It is this stage when the foundations are laid for the holistic development of a child. Strong foundations in the early years has lasting impact on children’s development and are considered to be critical inputs in improving the enrolment and participation of children in formal schooling.Therefore, the role of ECCE should be clear i.e. to facilitate optimum development of the child’s full potential and lay the foundation for all round development and lifelong learning. For that purpose, a strong partnership between the community and the ECCE centres is important for the well-being of the child and in achieving the goals and objectives of FLN.

ReplyDeleteA teacher first of all need to identify the needs of students in the classroom. As we know every child is unique and their learning process is also different from one another, therefore for identifying the needs of students teacher need some tools like play activity, discussion, assignments etc. By this process a plan need to be chalk out and prepared accordingly.
