A print-rich environment is one in which children interact with many forms of print like flash cards, word cards, teacher made books , word walls , printed word labels , cozy book areas , theme display , bulletin boards showing students work, picture book etc. and it helps foster skills needed for reading. It is important to create and provide print-rich environment to the pre-primary children. They learn as they explore, interact and have meaningful discussion about letters and letter sounds. Our school provides an environment that has labels, signs, name, charts, tags to help so children learn letters,
ReplyDeletewords, numbers easily and are able to make connections between the letters and the functions they serve . By print-rich environment students are able to learn concepts in a way which is both meaningful and fun for them , instead of rote learning or by being forced to sit and write.

Print rich environment allows a child to access different print based material such as books aur aur any other reading material. Print rich environment helps a child to foster their skills for reading. In today's environment this is important so that the child identify is birds and their meanings as well as understands how words and phrases fit together. This will further enhance the linguistics abilities of a child.

Print rich environment - an environment in which children are exposed to books, read to daily, provide with writing materials, their writing is displayed at children's eye level, and meaningful reading and writing experiences are presented.

Have multiple places where your child can access books (bedroom, playroom, living room)
Have children’s books on low bookshelves
Have small baskets of books where you don’t want a bookshelf
Post a calendar and make lists so that literacy is seen as an everyday practice
Talk about written items that you use and see (menus at restaurants, recipes, signs you see on stores or while driving)

Keep word board games like Scrabble and Boggle and Balderdash on hand for recess and lunch. Teaching them to play the old parlor games Hangman and Dictionary. Develop creative writing exercises that expand students' word usage. These are some of the ways to establish a print rich environment in the classroom.
