Language learning is an innate ability. A child learns language in his early years at home environment. There he/she is not taught about any alphabetical order or grammar. But the child acquired the language so that it is able to communicate with the other members of the family and the outside world as well. Hence, to my opinion language learning should not be structured with any order or sequencing. It needs ample of opportunities and freedom of expression.
ReplyDeleteTeaching children the sounds of the alphabet explicitly is the key stone to teaching them to read. Most research agrees that teaching the sound/letter links in alphabetical order is of little help when teaching children to read. In fact, it can make it harder to teach the sounds because if we follow the order of the alphabet most children will revert back to the letter name rather than the sound it makes.
DeleteExplicit teaching of both letter and sound is important. For that the following points may be taken into ground.
i) In beginning, introduce sounds that are continuous and can be easily said by most children.
ii) Introduce more commonly used letters first. Keep the least frequently used letters until later in the program.
iii) Teach new sounds in small steps, consolidating previous sounds and repetition is vital.
iv) Avoid teaching visually similar letters together.
In my opinion, we need to introduce children to alphabets at some time not necessarily in the beginning. Familiarising children with letters is an essential step towards language learning but not necessarily in its sequence.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, we have to familiarise children with alphabets at a time in sequence. It should be taught after some time but not in the first beginning. We can teach the children the alphabets in joyful manner. They should be enjoy the learning so they can acquire the learning language easily. It should be not compulsory the sequence but freely they can acquire the language.
ReplyDeleteTeaching children is indeed a very important and complicated activity. Building their life, educating them to their future, we should also give importance to the mother tongue too. Thank you
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not necessary to start teaching a language by introducing to the alphabet. Children acquires their mother tongue only by listening to their elders and not by following any order. So, language learning should not be structured with any sequence.
ReplyDeleteWe can start teaching language to children by introducing them to alphabets as one of the teaching methods. But we can also implement other innovative methods to teach children language at school. I think it is effective to familiarise children letters of a language in a sequence. Otherwise it could be confusing for the young learners to learn the letters randomly out of sequence.
ReplyDeleteIn my view , we need to introduce children to alphabet at sometimes not necessarily in the beginning . It should be taught after some time but not in the first beginning . We can teach the children the alphabet in joyful manner . As well as teaching the alphabets , we should teach the sound but , it can make it harder to teach the sounds if we follow the order of the alphabet .
ReplyDeleteIn the very beginning , we should introduce sounds that are continuous and can be easily said by most children and introducing the most common used letters . After that we should teach new sounds in small steps and consolidating previous sounds and repetition is vital .

ReplyDeleteDefinitely not. Let them listen to the language first. Then give them the opportunity to transact with their friends. Later we can introduce alphabet in or without sequence according to their familiar words and objects.
ReplyDeleteChildren who have started priliminary school can be taught via alphabet as we can expect that this group of children have some knowledge about the sounds and language of its own tongue. While those who have barely learned how to say a single word it is not possible tho teach them via alphabet.
ReplyDeleteLearning language is the natural ability for a child. First they listen to what their parents, elders and peers are speaking and frame those inside and express them in verbal mode. But when it comes to learning a L2 language the same process applies but introducing to alphabets comes to later stages when communication needs to be done in non-verbal mode. That languages can be structured using alphabets whether its L1 or L2.
ReplyDeleteNo.As in the beginning child first listen words and sound and tries to respond to Environment. Sometimes we should introduce them with alphabet with the help of playful method and concrete ideas. After listening word we should help them to be familiarised gradually.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, we need to introduce children to alphabets at some time not necessarily in the beginning. Familiarizing with letters to be the first step.
ReplyDeleteYes, it depends on child. Most children begin recognising some letters between the ages of two and three though some won't until they are around four years old. There's no need to push your toddler to learn the alphabet if she doesn't seem interested yet.
ReplyDeleteYes, children should be familiarised with the letters in sequence. It is very important for children.
yes
ReplyDeleteChildren learn language from mother. The child,s brain is learning easily by their mother tongue. They learn their subject matter meaningfully. So, they learn through the medium of own language.
ReplyDeleteAs per we found out by research LSRW is the sequence of learning and as I monitored somewhat visually I found out the same so I think it is not necessary to teach alphabet in beginning.
ReplyDeleteWe do not have to start teaching languages by introducing children to the alphabet. The first step should be to create the desire to learn the language which can be done by giving narratives of the language. At a later stage, of course, one has to be familiar with the alphabet not necessarily in its sequence.
ReplyDeleteYes, we can introduce children to the alphabets but first we should familiarize them with the sound of the alphabets and let them speak and in this way they will naturally discover the they need to know about letter - sound relationship. And for this we can use play cards and show them the letter and ask them what sound does it make. In this way, it becomes a play way meth and the children can also develop interest. And yes, in my opinion, children should be familiarised with the letters in sequence because otherwise, later it could create confusion. So we should introduce one letter at a time.
ReplyDeleteyes ,we can introduce children to the alphabets but first step in teaching alphabet should be getting the child interested in listening to the stories. There are lots of fun ways to introduce your child to individual letters. And this can be done by using toys, puzzle ,play words games etc.If he seems interested feel free to continue helping your child learn more letters. And in my opinion a child should be familiarised with the letters in sequence at advanced stage so that later it doesnot create any confusion.

ReplyDeleteyes children should be familiar with the letter in sequence. The first step should be to create desire in the child. There are lots of fun ways by which a child could be taught letters in sequence by using various toys, puzzles, games etc.also the parents should introduce the mother tongue to the child .If he seems to be interested then they must continue.
ReplyDeleteAccording to me we need to introduce children to alphabets at some time not necessarily in the beginning. Familiarising with letters should be the first step.
ReplyDeleteLanguage acquisition is through oral form at first, but later children can be introduced to the alphabet so that they can learn better and by themselves.
